UPDATE 03/12/2020
Given the health situation and the risk of exposure to the Coronavirus in gatherings, we have decided it was prudent to cancel this month’s Safety Seminar, and will reschedule.
It is imperative we take steps to minimize our risk and maximize our safety to all our Mid Island friends. For most of us the risk of attending an effectively managed seminar might be low, but for some the risk is high. So for everyone’s safety we have decided to err on the side of caution.
We know you all understand, we do these seminars for your safety and to help encourage good decision making. As there is no such thing as an emergency takeoff, we don’t see an overwhelming reason we must gather to talk safety at this very moment and potentially compromise anyone’s health.
We will review this on a month to month basis. In the meantime, it is also good practice to keep in mind, in general, and when flying where you are in close quarters in the cockpit, practice good preventive measures as recommended by the CDC: clean your hands often, avoid close contact, stay home if you’re sick, cover coughs and sneezes, wear a facemask if you are sick, clean and disinfect, . . . . https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/about/prevention.html
Thank you all for your understanding and support of Mid Island and our monthly safety seminars. Stay safe, and hopefully this will calm down and we will see you for our April seminar.

By attending this seminar, and others like it, you can become part of the FAA Pilot Proficiency Award Program [also known as WINGS] by participating in a recurrent training program. This program was expanded in 2008 and developed for a higher level of safety by employing consistent recurrent training, which has been identified as a major factor in reducing General Aviation [GA] accident rates.
Remember, as part of this seminar program, WINGS is designed to help keep you safe, and by participating and staying WINGS current you may maintain a valid Flight Review. We appreciate your participation in this event.
Do you know your limitations? The seminar will also direct your attention to the Mid Island Personal Limitations Checklist to help teach “situational awareness " through the experiences of other pilots . . . help develop good judgment, . . . . and better
