Topic:
Challenges of Mountain Flying
Speaker(s):
Dennis Miller, FAASTeam Representative of the Year for the DuPage District (2020)
Brief Description:
Flying in mountainous areas is challenging, not only because operational altitudes and winds are higher, but also because weather reporting and off-airport landing opportunities are fewer than in other flight environments. Pilots are well advised to seek training and advice from local mountain flying experts. Experience in mountainous environments and knowledge of best mountain flying practices improve flight safety.
