Title:
Using Simulation at Home to Improve Proficiency
Topic:
Software and training tools you can use at home for making in-flight procedures less daunting long before you take off.
Date and Time:
Friday, July 26, 2019, starting at 09:00 Central Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Stasi Poulos
Brief Description:

It has never been more important to be comfortable with the equipment onboard modern GA aircraft, and with the procedures required for every flight - often happening in complex airspace.  The power of today's personal computers makes it possible to assemble elaborate home-based simulation environments that can help prepare you for your flights.  But where do you begin?   The computer and simulation marketplace is vast, and there are so many technical choices to make long before you can fly at home.  This presentation will help you make sense of the options available to you as a pilot seeking to improve proficiency and will discuss the benefits and traps you need to understand to make the most of the time and money spent on a home simulation setup.  Stasi Poulos has been involved with flight simulation since the 1980s, starting with the early days of the SubLOGIC flight simulator.  Today, flight simulation is his profession, but he still uses his home computer as a flight simulator to enhance his proficiency daily.  As an instrument rated multi-engine / commercially rated pilot, Stasi will share his best practices and recommendations for flight simulation software and training tools that you can use at home for making in-flight procedures much less daunting long before you take to the skies.
