Title:
AoA Awareness and Taking Plane and Pilot to the Absolute Max Pole to Pole
Topic:
Preparing Plane and Pilot for Extreme Long Distance Flying
Date and Time:
Tuesday, April 16, 2019, starting at 18:30 Pacific Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Robert DeLaurentis
Brief Description:

Angle of Attack awareness is a critical aspect of safe flying. A loss of that awareness can be dangerous indeed. We'll review of what AoA is and why it is so important to keep in mind at all times, but especially at low speed and altitude, as in the traffic pattern.

Then, Robert DeLaurentis, author, entrepeneur, philanthropist, Navy veteran, and Zen Pilot, will share the behind-the-scenes preparation and planning for his upcoming record setting, Pole to Pole circumnavigation in his Turbine Commander 900, the "Citizen Of The World." Benefitting aviation safety, science and technology innovation, and STEM education, the flight is a leadership model that shows the world how impossibly big dreams can be achieved through vision, innovation, intuition, courage, and persistence.

He will share 8 personal preparations, tips, and tricks for long distance flying; 6 dangers and risks to mitigate that could save your life while flying; 5 major modifications - the good, the bad, and the ugly - undertaken to prepare the aircraft for this epic voyage; and the secret to building global impact and engaging community in an impossibly big dream.

There is a modest fee for this event to support the non-profit Fullerton Airport Pilot Association  that pays for supplies needed to run these events.
