Title:
Monthly Meeting of Columbus EAA IMC Club Mastering the Art of Instrument Navigation
Topic:
Know What You're Missing!:The Importance of Meaningful Practice and Preparation for Well-Executed Missed Approach Procedures
Date and Time:
Wednesday, April 24, 2019, starting at 19:00 Eastern Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Josh Fisher
Brief Description:

In instrument flying, as well as in training, the pinnacle of our planning and preparation can often plateau at the final approach segment. This is "The Show, the exciting part; the crescendo before the breakout! In flying, as in music, the crescendo doesn't always lead to the finale. On rare occasions, the breakout doesn't happen. We know what to do next, right? In this discussion, we will identify how well-tuned airmanship is a critical ingredient in what could be the most critical segment of an approach: the missed approach. We will discuss how to combine our knowledge of instrument procedures, and our skill in aircraft control, to prepare for that once-in-a-while "Let's get outta here!"
