Title:
Special Use Airspace Explained
Topic:
Understanding Special Use Airspace While Operating in Todays National Airspace System (NAS)
Speaker(s):
Mike Brubaker, DPE & Bill VanArtsdalen, FAA
Brief Description:
The Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 14 CFR Part 91.103 specifically states, "Each pilot shall become familiar with ALL available information before beginning a flight". This would include information on any Special Use Airspace that may be along a pilot’s planned route of flight. As there are multiple types of special use airspace, the requirements for operating in each can vary depending on many factors. As they say, "the devil's in the details." FAASTeam Representative and local DPE Mike Brubaker will present this safety seminar on Special Use Airspace, in an effort to educate pilots about what types of special use airspace exist, what is required to operate within such areas, as well as possible safety hazards.
