“iPad Basics and Weather Information “ with Captain Brian Schiff

This course will take you through the fundamentals of your iPad. It will cover the basics of iPad use including setup, data management, battery management, shortcuts, “touchology” and more. You’ll learn to operate and get the most out of this popular Apple tablet, learn more about iOS 11, the latest operating system from Apple. Discover and review some of the most useful and popular aviation applications (apps), and how to organize them on your iPad for efficient use.
Bring: a fully charged iPad.
Instructor: Brian Schiff, ATP, CFI, CFII,, MEI, AGI, IGI, is a captain for a major US airline and is type-rated on the Boeing 727, 757, 767, DC-9 (MD-80), CL-65, LR-JET, and G-V. Schiff’s roots are deeply planted in general aviation where he has flown a wide variety of aircraft. He holds several flight instructor ratings and is recognized for his enthusiasm and ability to teach in way that simplifies complex procedures and concepts. He is a member of the Society of Aviation and Flight Educators (SAFE) and has been actively instructing since earning his flight and ground instructor certificates in 1985. Schiff also has been an FAA-designated examiner. He attended San Jose State University, and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and his Master of Science Degree in Aviation Safety from the University of Central Missouri. He regularly presents seminars about aviation safety and techniques to student and professional pilots alike.
This program is one of a series in the Ventura County 99s 18th Annual Pilot Proficiency Classes, an annual series of 20-25 seminars and programs from February to May. There is a fee for all classes. The FAA does not permit us to include fee information here. The web site also provides additional information about each class and the instructors.
Some classes fill to capacity quickly. Please register for the seminar at least 24 hours in advance to ensure we have seats and handouts, if any, for everyone at http://www.vc99sclasses.com. We cannot guarantee a seat to people who do not register in advance. If seats are available, we will gladly accept payments and registration from walk-ins at the door.
Unless otherwise indicated on the registration web site http://www.vc99sclasses.com, all classes meet in the upstairs meeting room of the Department of Airports, 555 Airport Way, Camarillo, CA 93010, on the field at KCMA. There is no wireless network available to attendees in the classroom. If you want Internet access during a class, you will need to use your own data plan or a hotspot.
