HOW AN ENGINE MONITOR KEPT ME FROM PULLING THE CHUTE
with Rhon Williams
After his inflight engine failure last October in his Cirrus, Rhon developed this presentation covering the saga of an inflight engine failure, safe landing, the failure diagnostic process, and the resultant engine overhaul.
ABOUT OUR SPEAKER:
Rhon grew up in Dayton, Ohio near WPAFB, and got to see all kinds of military planes flying over his house. His Dad took him to military air shows, so he gained an interest in aviation at a young age. While earning an electrical engineering degree at the University of Illinois, Rhon took flight training as some of his college classes. While in graduate school, he continued his pilot training through Commercial-SMEL, Glider, and CFI-AI ratings. After moving to California, he added Commercial-Helicopter.
Rhon is now co-owner of a Cirrus SR22, and previously a Mooney, in which he and his wife enjoyed many flying trips. They included flying northwest to Banff, northeast to New Jersey, southeast to Bahamas, and southwest to Cabo San Lucas. He is also active in EAA Chapter 7, Young Eagles, Civil Air Patrol, and giving briefings as a FAAST representative.
