9:45 – 10:45: “Too Cold for Comfort: Preparing for Winter Operations” in the Blue Hangar. Cold weather is here along with the seasonal operating headaches associated with starting, heating, and maintaining an aircraft. Winter operations can be challenging for any pilot, amateur or professional. Attend this seminar and learn what preventive maintenance tasks you can accomplish and procedures to follow in order to prepare your plane for cold weather operations.
11:00 -12:00 "The Dreadful Duo: Cold and Dark" in the Blue Hangar, presented by Bob Sutherlin, FAA Safety Program Manager. Visibility and aircraft performance peak in the winter but unfortunately they are accompanied by additional risks and hazards unique to winter flying. Discover how to mitigate these risks by learning the hazards associated with cold-weather flying and night operations.
