Brief Description:
North Carolina has numerous military flight operation training areas that include low altitude helicopters, high speed fighter jets, airborne troop deployments, night operations, practice bomb runs, and more. In addition, the Moore County airport is sandwiched between a Military Alert Area, an MOA, and a Restricted Area. Know where these operations are located, how to determine when they are operational, how to avoid a "Pilot Deviation" from FAA/ATC, and how to avoid a mid-air collision. 7:00 Military Operational Areas and Mid-Air Collision Avoidance with Military Aircraft. Military flight operations officers and Fayetteville ATC specialists will brief on military operational areas that include MOAs, Alert Areas, and Restricted Areas. Learn where they are, how to negotiate these with ATC, and how to avoid a collision with military aircraft. This program will focus on Mid-Air Collision Avoidance between GA & military aircraft. Also discussed will be a recent encounter between a GA aircraft and a flight of C-130s.
