Join us for an enlightening presentation: "Planning A Safe IFR Cross-Country Flight". This session will provide an in-depth summary of the information presented in the FAASTeam course ALC-889. This seminar focuses on the self-briefing steps and process in IFR flight planning. A partial list of the topics to be discussed are listed below
- Defining the mission including defining the route
- Aircraft status and limitations
- Departure and destination weather
- Enroute weather including Airmets and Sigmets
- Convective and turbulance forecasts
- Winds aloft
- TFR's
- Fuel requirements
- Alternate selection
- Personal minimums assessment
- Go-No-Go considerations
Hands-On flight planning session: Participants will divide into working groups. Each group will be given a cross-country flight to plan and using self-briefing steps develop a safe IFR country flight plan.
Completed flight plans will be evaluated by the group.
