Title:
Emergencies NOT Found in the POH/AFM
Topic:
How To Manage Emergencies Not Specifically Described in the POH/AFM
Date and Time:
Saturday, March 7, 2026, starting at 09:00 Pacific Standard Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Joe Biviano, CFI
Brief Description:

The POH/AFM under Section 3 contains procedures to manage emergencies. These procedures do NOT contain details/guidance for off-nominal conditions, such as an alternator failure in IMC or at night. In these situations, procedures will vary. What about other emergencies not in the POH/AFM such as vibrations, fuel/oil in the cockpit, or limited/reduced control power? It's the pilot's responsibility to manage the emergency to a safe outcome. This presentation will review select emergency procedures under various conditions and provide insight on managing emergencies that you normally would NOT find in the POH/AFM.
