By comparing FOR-DEC to other mnemonics, we show how a shared decision model improves safety across aviation roles.

For aviation maintenance technicians (AMTs), this same framework applies directly to troubleshooting, deferral decisions, and return-to-service judgments.

She is the 2010 AOPA Joseph Crotti Award recipient for General Aviation Advocacy.

HARVEY MADISON - Presenter

Harvey Madison is an Instructional Designer for a major flight simulator manufacturer with over 30 years of professional experience applying Adult Learning Theory and research-based education techniques across several industries.  Currently, he works with with public and private organization groups to help aviators achieve maximum safety, including as a FAASTeam Training Provider.

Outside of aviation, Harvey volunteers as a ham radio operator in the Amateur Radio Emergency Services as a Net Controller, as a storm spotter for SkyWarn, and is a devoted fan of his beloved Chicago Cubs.
