Title:
MOSAIC Can Change Your Pilot Life - Michael Baraz - Chicago 99s Aviation Expo 2026
Topic:
The New MOSAIC Rules Lower Pilot Training Costs, Eliminate Medicals, and Open Many Aircraft Choices For Sport Pilots
Speaker(s):
Michael Baraz, CFI/CFII
Brief Description:
MOSAIC (Modernization of Special Airworthiness Certification) is transformational! One of the most significant changes to the FARs we've seen in years, perhaps, decades, the rules introduced last summer by the FAA. MOSAIC expands the privileges for Sport Pilots and updates the standards for Light-Sport Aircraft (LSA). Don't let the terms "Sport Pilot" or "Light-Sport Aircraft" fool you. These changes include reducing a ton of restrictions on pilots and airplanes. For example, no medicals for pilots and no weight limits for aircraft. There are new certification standards and processes for certification for pilots, instructors, and aircraft.

Michael Baraz holds ATP, CFI, CFII, AGI, and IGI certificates. He is an active flight instructor and FAA Safety Lead Team Representative. He loves helping people achieve their flying goals and staying safe, current, and proficient through continuous training. Michael flies a Mooney Rocket 305, doing Angel Flights, Lifeline Pilots, and animal rescue flights.
