Title:
Say Intentions - Aaron Barclay CFII ATC Approach Controller - Monthly Safety Meeting at PWK by CEPA
Topic:
There is Nobody Better to Help You Understand How ATC Work Than A Pilot Who Is Also A Controller
Speaker(s):
Aaron Barclay, CFII, C90 Controller
Brief Description:
If you've flown in Chicago airspace, you've probably talked to Aaron Barcley. Most ATC Controllers are not pilots, but Aaron is. In fact. He will help you understand Chicago airspace and how it works.

Speaker Bio:
Aaron is an active pilot, CFI/CFII and a Chicago Approach Controller (ATC), so he understands the system from both sides of the mic. Aaron would fly with his dad around the Midwest and eventually earned his private certificate through the NFC in 2003. He graduated from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in 2007 with a B.S. in aeronautical science and a minor in Air Traffic Control. In 2008 Aaron started his ATC journey at Chicago Approach (C90) and fully certified in 2012 working all sectors around Chicago. In 2012 Aaron also earned his CFI and CFII and has been actively instructing in the Chicago area for over 10 years. Because Aaron wears both an ATC and a pilot’s hat, he’s able to help controllers understand the pilot world and pilots to better understand what’s happening behind a controller’s radar scope.

CEPA’s purpose is to promote flying, proficiency, and safety. The intent is to create a community of pilots willing to share their perspectives, provide recognition, foster communications, promote safety, and build proficiency in instrument flying. Participate in this excellent forum where we think through the various options from the comfort of your chair, firmly on the ground... before it is you sitting in the cockpit.
We meet monthly when pilots (and would-be pilots) network and share knowledge and experiences to keep our heads in the game.
If you aren't yet a member of CEPA, please consider joining. Your dues help pay for these Safety Seminars.
