This is a Flight Planning exercise based upon the mission details of the JFK Jr. tragedy, 25 yrs ago.  For our purposes: YOU are IFR qualified, instrument-proficient and in command of a well-equipped single engine airplane of your choice departing Essex County CDW enroute to Martha's Vineyard MVY at night. Sky conditions at the time of departure collectively average SW winds, 5 SM visibility, Clear skies, Haze, Mist, narrow Temp/Dew Point spreads. You intend to execute this mission under VFR and are preparing to revert to IFR if conditions en route require.

How do you intend to make full use of your available resources and the airplane's utility while at the same time keeping your options open to deal with every reasonable contingency?

Join us tonight as we review the fundamentals of Preflight Planning and make practical application in our obligation to comply with 91.103 Preflight Action.  Discover what it means to Gather the dots...to Connect the dots by making the essential aeronautical decisions on the ground, before departure and without the pressure of flight. Learn how to measure the distance between a challenge and a formality.

"The pilot community has experienced every conceivable means and method to destroy our aircraft and ourselves since the Wright Brothers discovered powered flight 120 years ago.  We are not inventing any new ways to do it.  We continue to make the same foolish aeronautical decisions repeatedly  because we CHOOSE to make the conscious decision to NOT learn from the mistakes of others and our own past experiences.  It is critical  to our survival that we ... as a community of pilots ... think twice about the consequences of our actions before we ring another bell that cannot be unrung."  --  Scott Allen
