Brief Description:

Michael Koch, meteorologist with the National Weather Service, will be our guest speaker for this one-hour seminar. He will discuss different types of weather phenomena impacting aviation operations and the services provided by the National Weather Service.

Michael was born on April 11,1965. This is the same day as the infamous Palm Sunday tornado outbreak that swept across six Midwestern states, killing 271 people and injuring over 1500 more. Michael grew up in Fort Wayne, IN, and became interested in meteorology after taking an introductory course in the subject. He holds a BS in Earth and Atmospheric Science from Purdue University and has been with the National Weather Service almost thirty years. Michael is currently program leader for the aviation and fire weather programs at the Indianapolis office of the National Weather Service.
