There and Back Again: One Pilot’s Adventure flying a single engine piston airplane to Alaska

CFI Rick Niles provides an overview of planning and executing a trip in a Cessna 206 from Maryland through Canada to Alaska and return including:

  • Flight planning the trip
  • Canadian and U.S. Customs
  • Various differences between U.S. and Canada:
    • IFR rule differences
    • Hours of IFR flight in Wildfire IMC without any separation services
    • Differences in FBOs
    • ATC behavior differences
  • Weather challenges encountered and overcome
  • Maintenance challenges
  • Destination recommendations
  • Advice to future adventurers

A rusty pilot seminar (EA07124105) at 9 am and lunch at 12 pm will be available before this seminar.
