The Mountain West UAS is a non-profit organization that brings together owners, operators and interested parties in an informal and social atmosphere to discuss drones, their legal and safe operation and positive benefits to society.

From the intersection of US Highways 285 & 24 in Johnson Village, Colorado, go north on US 24 about one mile and turn west on Steel Drive.  The first left turn is Chaffee County Road 319.  The terminal building is to the left, and the conference room is on the second floor.

MWUAS's primary missions are public outreach and education.  Our most visible accomplishment is the unique Buena Vista Drone Training Park (DTP) facility located in the Rodeo Grounds in Buena Vista, Colorado.  This public/private cooperative effort was begun in August 2020 and is reaching many developmental milestones this year.

Come hear what this regional training resource is all about and how you may use it in your organization to train sUAS pilots.

Small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS) are becoming more commonplace in all areas of the country.

The regular meeting of Mountain West UAS is intended to bring sUAS owners, operators and interested parties together discuss many aspects of UAS.  Our typical agenda includes the following:

  • Legal and Legislative activities pertinent to UAS operations
  • A safety topic
  • An educational topic
  • Networking and socialization
