This program focuses on the critical need to teach well beyond the FAA minimum certification standards and stay motivated with lifetime learning. (Do we aim for a 70% when taking any test?) For educators, the Master Instructor Program is an important way to stay motivated and demonstrate your commitment to lifetime learning. 

Safety is impossible in a vacuum. It requires high-level community standards and a "safety culture" to promote compliance and continuous learning. The FAASTeam WINGS Pilot Proficiency Program - WINGS -  provides exactly this kind of critical outreach and motivation for all pilots. Through in-person and online education, WINGS sets a high standard and enables continuous lifetime learning for pilots.

DAVID ST. GEORGE - PRESENTER

David St. George is a lifetime pilot and an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner for 25 years. He serves as SAFE's Executive Director and has earned a Master Instructor accreditation 12 times. 

David believes in FAA WINGS having earned Master WINGS  and also completed the FAA's previous 20 level safety course. Continuous learning is a requirement of safety in our rapidly changing aviation world!

RON TiMMERMANS - HOST

Ron Timmermans earned his Private Pilot Certificate in 1972 and went on to add Commercial, Instrument, CFI/MEI, ATP, and Remote Pilot. Shortly after earning a CFIIA/MEI-IA, Ron became a Beechcraft Pilot Proficiency Program Ground and Flight instructor

Ron is the 2021 FAA National Certificated Flight Instructor of the Year, and has been selected by AOPA as a professional ground instructor for the ‘Rusty Pilots’ program, Ron now makes presentations to reach long inactive pilots to encourage their return to flight. 

Ron is a FAASTeam Lead Representative giving monthly presentations on GA safety topics.  He has given many Young Eagle rides, authored training curriculum, and developed flight instructor standardization guides, published articles, and served in leadership positions on the American Bonanza Society Board of Directors and is a founding director of the WINGS Industry Network.
