Topic:
Service Bulletins and the Aircraft Owner
Date and Time:
Monday, September 13, 2021, starting at 18:00 Eastern Daylight Time (15:00 PDT; 16:00 MDT; 17:00 CDT; 12:00 HST; 14:00 AKDT; 15:00 Arizona; 22:00 GMT)
Speaker(s):
Stephen Bateman, CFI, LSRM
Brief Description:

Background:
Pilots and mechanics should always know the status of manufacturer’s Service Bulletin, which are created in response to servicing issues that may affect airworthiness.  Depending on circumstances, compliance with Service Bulletins may or may not be mandatory but they should always be considered to ensure continued airworthiness.  Online access to Service Bulletins and Service Instructions is readily available to aircraft owners, pilots, and mechanics.

Teaching Points:
•    To ensure the best product possible and to improve product design and maintenance, manufacturers constantly research the performance of their products.
•    Product performance research, including accident investigations, may reveal unanticipated issues with aircraft components.
•    As aircraft age, new issues may be discovered that require action.
•    Service Bulletins and Service Instructions are means to share issues with aircraft owners and maintainers and to guide them in issue resolution.
•    Standard versus special airworthiness certification, and conformance to alerts and bulletins.
•    Whether mandatory or not, Service Bulletins will also teach you something meaningful about your aircraft—make time to understand them.

This—and more—will be covered in this month's webinar and you'll receive WINGS credit for attending!
