Topic:
Discussing Soft and Short Field Takeoffs and Landings
Date and Time:
Wednesday, November 4, 2020, starting at 18:30 Eastern Standard Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Sam Lindsay
Brief Description:

We will be discussing soft and short field takeoffs and landings, weight & balance and over gross avoidance, weather decisions, and aeronautical decision making.  Operations from this 3500' turf runway, especially during the summer months, can involve a soft runway. At this seminar we will discuss the proper settings and techniques used on soft and short runways.  We will also cover how to perform a weight & balance calculation, and discuss the dangers of operating over the gross aircraft weight or improperly loaded aircraft.  Weather decisions and discussions will involve rain, low clouds, and crosswinds. Finally, we will cover aeronautical decision making, including the P.A.V.E and I.M.S.A.F.E. checklists.
