Topic:
‘Weight and Balance’ - When Was The Last Time It Was Checked?
Date and Time:
Saturday, June 20, 2020, starting at 09:00 Eastern Daylight Time (06:00 PDT; 07:00 MDT; 08:00 CDT; 03:00 HST; 05:00 AKDT; 06:00 Arizona; 13:00 GMT)
Speaker(s):
Robert Di Meo, EAA Technical Counselor and RV-8 builder
Brief Description:
Proper weight and balance is critical to aircraft controllability. Experimental aircraft builders need to determine the empty CG of their aircraft before the initial flight. Owners of experimental aircraft currently flying would also benefit from this seminar. As their aircraft age they are subject to additions and subtraction of equipment and from time to time they should be reweighed to reduce creeping errors. This seminar discusses the tools and techniques for determining the empty weight CG of an aircraft and provides a practical demonstration on a Vans RV-8 (tail-dragger) aircraft.
