Teach Beyond the Test: Preparing Pilots for Uncommon Emergencies
Brief Description:
Topics include aviation weather accident statistics, Advisory Circular 91-92: Pilot’s Guide to a Preflight Briefing, and understanding briefing types, when and how to use each effectively. Pilots will learn how to extract meaningful insights from weather data and/or briefers for safer flight planning and best practices for conducting an effective self-brief. Use of tools like a self-briefing checklist or weather timeline for Go/No-Go decisions, along with recent enhancements to Flight Service systems. Attendees will observe a walk-through of Leidos online tools designed to empower pilots with easier access to information.

Jeff currently serves as the Director of Innovation & Outreach for Leidos Flight Service.
