Title:
NAFI 2026 - Angle-of-Attack Panel Discussion
Topic:
This Panel Features Discussions on the Value of AOA Indicators in GA Aircraft
Date and Time:
Friday, July 24, 2026, starting at 08:00 Central Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Karen Kalishek, Corey Stephens, Everette Rochon
Brief Description:

In December 2024, the FAA issued a special airworthiness information bulletin (SAIB) recommending that angle-of-attack (AOA) indicators be installed and calibrated in all general aviation aircraft. Pilots who have flown for decades without using an AOA indicator may wonder why the FAA took this recent step.  Learn from a panel of FAA managers and Angle of Attack Working Group representatives how we have come to this point, the value of AOA indicators, use in university and flight training programs, and the status of collaborative work to develop and standardize AOA equipment and training within the general aviation industry. Panelists include Corey Stephens and Everette Rochon. The AOA Working Group is represented by Karen Kalishek (NAFI Chair).

PRESENTED DURING THE EAA AIRVENTURE FLY-IN.  NO FEE FOR THE NAFI PRESENTATIONS, BUT AN ENTRANCE FEE IS REQUIRED BY EAA AIRVENTURE TO ENTER THE GROUNDS.
