Title:
NAFI 2026 - Making an Informed IFR Weather Go/No-Go Decision
Topic:
This Presentation Will Utilize a Case Study with Actual Weather Data to Demonstrate a Method to Make the Go/No Go Decision
Brief Description:
With the advent of Foreflight, Aviationweather.gov and a myriad of other weather tools, there has never been more data available to make the Go/ No Go weather decision. While a quick review of Foreflight’s briefing output for local VFR flights may be sufficient, making the IFR decision, during dynamic weather, can add to the complexity of making the Go/No Go decision. This presentation will utilize a case study, with actual weather data, to demonstrate a method to make the Go/No Go decision. This method enables the pilot to capture key weather data, including cross-checking ForeFlight and Aviationweather.gov to make a comprehensive weather decision. A visual 3- strike rule will aid in making this all-important decision.
