Event Details and Registration

 This is a second offering of the same course offered on January 20, 2027

This highly requested event: Phase 2 of the Emergency Responder Training will be a hands-on, live portion held at Hawthorne Airport (HHR) in Hawthorne, CA.  We will collaborate with local pilots, aircraft operators, state police, HEMS crews and training facilities as well as airport managers to make these sessions happen alongside an in-person training to touch, feel and experience egress and shut down procedures in a variety of aircraft. There will be skill stations for qualified responders to cut into fuselages and wreckage.

This training will be held at the Jet Center Los Angeles FBO ramp. Food will be available or you can bring your own coolers. See details below.

Arrival and check-in starts at 0800 and we will be placing participants into groups with a start time before 0900 and an end time at 1600.  This training also counts as 4 hours of CEU accreditation. 

Please have all members of group reserve a place in this posting for proper headcount.

Parking will be available through marked signs and areas. If you are flying in, please park on the side with the FBO.

First Responders with Apparatus will be allowed to park on the side of the field with separate gate access for quick egress. Please contact the host for arrangements.

Proceed through the Main entrance of the FBO, for access to the ramp and hangars where events will be held.

Participants should plan on learning:

• Air Operations and Capabilities of the LA Country Fire Department
• Egress points and hazards of a variety of different aircraft
• Emergency Procedures and Aeromedical factors and rescue
• Risk Management while operating around aircraft for pilots, victims, first responders and bystanders
• Maintenance and hazards from a Mechanic's standpoint - learn about what could be found before an accident happens. Discover Composite materials where you'd least expect, the hazards around composite materials and major/minor repairs and alterations and how they factor into accidents (Allows AMT 1 Credit)
• How to communicate with ATC, Airport Operations, the FAA and the NTSB during an event both off-field and on-airport
• The important ways airman and bystanders can assist in an aviation emergency
• Hands-on cutting station - Practical experience with the proper techniques and tools to safely extricate through aircraft materials and structures
• Subject Matter Experts will walk participants through full emergency scenario's
• Small break-out sessions with Subject Matter Experts throughout the day

These sessions will factor into 3 Basic WINGS Credits and 4 CEU's issued.

The event runs for 2 days. You only need to attend ONE of the two days.

• Lunch will be generously donated by the LACoFD.
• You must stay for the entire event to receive the WINGS and CEU Credit Certificate. This event qualifies for a full Basic WINGS phase for Knowledge requirements. The 4 hour CEU can be applied towards first responder certificates and requirements through reciprocity standards. (NREMT, POST, FIRE, etc)
• Please bring your bunker gear if you would like to experience working in the wreckage or fitting inside the aircraft with your gear on.
