This seminar provides an overview of the four primary ASTM International consensus standards developed by the F37 Committee as Means of Compliance (MOC) for the FAA’s Modernization of Special Airworthiness Certification (MOSAIC) rule. The presentation will explain how these standards support the new light-sport category and what MOSAIC may mean for pilots and aircraft owners.

Dr. Raul Salazar is an entrepreneur, educator, pilot, and innovator. He is an adjunct professor at Florida Institute of Technology, where he teaches the UAS courses. Dr. Salazar has authored over 160 courseware titles.
Some of his customers are NASA, Motorola, Google, Microsoft, Cisco, NSU, Apple, FAA to name a few. Over the span of his career, Raul developed products and software that include: helicopter/airplane/engine/cargo ship simulators, an in-store digital coupon system, online courses, drone software to count trees/cars/animals and a drone visual recognition software.
Dr. Salazar is an active aviation educator and Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) who has conducted over 67 safety webinars and seminars for the FAA Safety Team (FAASTeam) from 2019 to 2026. Dr. Salazar has built six experimental gyroplanes, and also has done seven build assists for gyroplanes for his customers. Also, Dr. Salazar helped on an experimental helicopter build assist. Dr. Salazar is a member of the ASTM committee for the new gyroplane standards.
