Title:
Cambridge Airport - Soft Fields to Small UAS - Where the Surprises Live
Topic:
The challenges of operating from grass, short field, and other non-paved runways, followed by the topic of small UAS essentials.
Brief Description:
This two hour seminar will be beneficial to pilots of all ages. Our speakers, Michael Levy and Tad Yergey will begin our discussion describing the challenges of operating from a grass short-field runway. They will discuss how soft-field conditions affect takeoff and landing performance, the practical go/no-go decision making process, and why errors in these environments continue to cause accidents.
During the second part of this presentation, they will discuss small UAS unmanned aircraft. They will go over everything you need to know regarding flying your drone. This will include drone registration, remote ID, basic regulations regarding operating your drone in the NAS, the differences in the regulations between recreational flying and commercial flying, and LAANC access.
