Title:
The Monthly EAA Chapter 1494 IMC/VMC Meeting
Topic:
Preparing for that getaway summer flying vacation trip
Date and Time:
Thursday, May 21, 2026, starting at 18:00 Eastern Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Bob Dilk, CFII
Brief Description:

Please welcome our host, Certified Instrument Flight Instructor, Bob Dilk.

Summertime brings some great flying weather. The opportunity to take the family on a flying vacation to that special place is exciting. Proper preparation and flight planning is essential to a successful trip.

The winter flying season tends to restrict our flying activity. Pilot proficiency erodes. Aircraft maintenance can be delayed. In preparation for a family trip, we may tend to rush as opposed to thoughtful and careful consideration of many elements.

Join us as we discuss post maintenance function check-flights, Weight and balance calculations with the family, long range weather planning, and aircraft performance in the warm summer skies.
