We are pleased to announce the first-ever Boise FSDO DPE Roundtable Zoom session launching in advance of the CFI/DPE forums.

This ZOOM session is intended exclusively for Designated Pilot Examiners (DPEs) and FAA personnel within the Boise FSDO area. It will serve as an open forum for DPEs to share information, discuss concerns, and learn collaboratively from one another. Link to the zoom webinar is:

About our presenter, Jason Blair:

Jason Blair is an active single- and multiengine instructor and FAA Designated Pilot Examiner with over 6,000 hours total time, including more than 3,500 hours of instruction and 3,500 hours as a DPE. In his role as an examiner, he has issued over 2,500 pilot certificates. He has worked with multiple aviation associations, focusing on pilot training and testing, and has over 30 years of flying experience and more than 20 years as an instructor, flying over 100 makes and models of aircraft. He is also a contributor to several aviation publications focused on training and safety.

Jason was honored as the 2023 Michigan FAA Safety Team Representative of the Year and received the 2016 Michigan CFI of the Year award.

He began flying at age 15, soloed at 16, and earned his private pilot certificate at 17. While earning undergraduate and master’s degrees from Western Michigan University, he continued flight training through local FBOs, obtaining his instrument, commercial, and instructor certificates. He is an active CFI, a NAFI Master Flight Instructor, and an FAA DPE for both Part 61 and Part 141 training providers.

He has served as Executive Director of the National Association of Flight Instructors and has represented the flight training community on several industry committees including the FAA Runway Safety Council, General Aviation Joint Steering Committee, TSA Aviation Safety Advisory Council, and NATA Flight Training Committee. He continues to work as a writer and consultant in flight training, regulations, and safety.

Jason grew up in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and remains active in outdoor activities including scuba diving, skiing, hunting, fishing, mountain biking, and golf.
