This is a Wings focused Safety Seminar to kick off the summer flying season. The goal is to bring pilots together for practical, safety based learning and discussion. Our inter-mountain 99's will also incorporate a fun aviation trivia component. See additional session details below.

Session 1: Aeromedical - Demystifying the flight physical 

Dr. Rachael Ferraro is a HIMS-certified Senior Aviation Medical Examiner with over 20 years of experience in patient care. She works closely with pilots navigating the FAA medical certification process, including those requiring additional review or special issuance. 

A practical, pilot focused session covering common myths and mistakes with FAA Medicals, Certification pitfalls, special issuance guidance and pathways and how to approach the medical process with a better understanding. 

Session 2:  A Panel Discussion of Airspace, NOTAMS, TFR's, Operating in the Busy KCOE Airspace.

As our Moderator Pat Papineau is an Aviation Safety Consultant with experience in both government and industry, focusing on risk and airspace management practices for ground-to-high-altitude operations. She is retired from the FAA/USFS and holds a Master of Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and lectures at Central Washington University. Pat is a private pilot and Part 107 operator. 

Pat will guide our discussions with panel members covering general airspace, local airspace awareness with safe operations in and around KCOE, and Lake Coeur D' Alene, A review of NOTAMS, TFR's, Local ATC operations and the KCOE firefighting operations. 

Session 3: Aircraft Electrical Systems - How to best prepare and prevent a failure

Matt Hamm is the Chief Flight Instructor at Northwest Flight Service and brings over 15 years of experience as a licensed Airframe & Powerplant mechanic and inspector. Throughout his aviation career, he has built a strong foundation in both maintenance and the cockpit, giving him a well-rounded operational perspective

Session to cover aircraft electrical systems, how to recognize common failures, preventative awareness and what to do in the event of an electrical failure.
