Title:
Emergencies Are Analog
Topic:
Pilot Decision-Making and Risk Management During In-Flight Emergencies.
Date and Time:
Saturday, April 18, 2026, starting at 10:30 Pacific Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
James Warmkessel
Brief Description:

In-flight emergencies do not always present as clear, single-system failures. Many develop gradually and involve incomplete information, multiple indications, and competing priorities.

This seminar will explore practical decision-making during abnormal and emergency situations, including how pilots evaluate evolving problems, prioritize actions, and manage workload when systems do not behave exactly as we would expect. The discussion will focus on real-world judgment, the effective use of checklists, and maintaining situational awareness as conditions change.
