Title:
EAA Chapter 129 VMC Club Meeting
Topic:
Payload: It’s Part of Every Flight—But Are We Really Thinking It Through?
Brief Description:
Most of us stop at the numbers: How much does it weigh? Where is it loaded? But there’s a critical question that too often gets overlooked—WHAT are we putting in our airplanes?
At EAA Chapter 129’s March VMC Club meeting, we’ll begin with a practical review of weight and balance, then go beyond the math to explore real-world payload risks. Hazardous items. Poorly secured baggage. Gear you might need in flight—but can’t reach when it matters, and even items that may have no business being onboard at all.
In the spirit of the VMC Club mission—elevating aviation safety through regular training and the open sharing of real pilot experiences—this discussion is designed to spark thoughtful conversation, challenge assumptions, and help all of us make better decisions before the engine ever starts.
Safe flying isn’t just about how much you carry—it’s about what you carry, and why.
