Title:
EAA Chapter 129 IMC Club
Topic:
The 'Checklist' Evolution: Mastering Aeronautical Decision Making (ADM) and Risk Analysis
Date and Time:
Saturday, March 7, 2026, starting at 09:00 Central Standard Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Will Eastman, CFII
Brief Description:

Veteran AirVenture presenter, Will Eastman - CFII, will be hosting this month's IMC meeting with a presentation on ADM.

Does your safety plan end when the wheels leave the pavement? Many pilots treat the checklist as a mechanical "to-do" list, but its true value lies in providing a structured framework for intentional Aeronautical Decision Making (ADM) and Risk Analysis.

Join Will to learn how to move beyond rote memorization and embrace repeatable processes designed to trap errors before they become accidents.

Core Focus:

  • Science of ADM: Reduce judgment errors by up to 50%.
  • PAVE & 5P Models: Proactive tools to analyze threats inside and outside the cockpit.
  • Accident Chain: Mitigate hazards during "Perceive" and "Process" phases.
  • Systematic Operations: Manageable systems to ensure no critical item is overlooked.

Don't fly by the seat of your pants—add professional discipline to your flight operations! Attendance earns FAA WINGS credit!

The purpose of EAA Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC) Clubs is to promote instrument flying, proficiency, and safety. The intent is to create a community of pilots willing to share information, provide recognition, foster communications, promote safety, and build proficiency in instrument flying. EAA IMC Clubs are extensions to local EAA chapters and offer monthly IMC program meetings where pilots can network and share knowledge and experiences. Since 2017, instrument pilots have improved their proficiency through the EAA IMC club programs and they love it.
