Title:
NOTAMs and Pilot Deviations - Separating Myth from Reality
Topic:
CFI & Pilot Forum: Practical Safety Discussions for Pilots and Instructors
Date and Time:
Tuesday, February 3, 2026, starting at 19:00 Eastern Standard Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Patrick Lofvenholm (RCFO's) & John Moloney (FAASTeam)
Brief Description:

Join us for an engaging and informative forum designed for CFIs, local pilots, aviation mechanics, and aviation enthusiasts. This session will feature an open, collaborative discussion focused on NOTAMs, the who, what, when, where, and why - and how they apply in real-world operations. We’ll also walk through recent and relevant pilot deviation scenarios, with an emphasis on what typically happens after a deviation, including FAA processes, education-based remediation, and corrective actions.

In addition, we’ll review the current FAASTeam Topic of the Month to reinforce critical safety awareness and promote continued learning.

This is a great opportunity to network, share experiences, and support a strong local safety culture. WINGS credit is available. Members of EAA Chapter 309 will be in attendance and will provide updates on current EAA Build Night aircraft projects (two ongoing builds) as well as other upcoming chapter activities and regional events.
