Title:
July Topic of the Month -- GA Over-Water Operations
Topic:
Survival Training and Equipment Recommendations for Over Water Flights
Speaker(s):
Ross Russo, FAASTeam Rep.
Brief Description:
We fly over water more than we realize! Studies suggest that planning and knowledge of over-water Pre- and In-flight processes and procedures can reduce the frequency of water landings (ditchings) and the severity of consequence should a pilot be forced to ditch. This informative presentation will emphasize the benefits of flight planning, survival, and equipment for General Aviation operations over water and beyond gliding distance from shore.
FAASTeam Rep. Ross Russo has organized the Cayman Caravan, a GA trip from Key West, FL to Grand Cayman for 20 years; and is well versed on over-water operations. He'll lead our discussion as we explore the regulatory requirements and techniques of overwater flying.
