Title:
Risk Management Beyond Go/No-Go Decision Making
Topic:
Risk Management and Decision-Making as an Ongoing Process Throughout a Flight.
Date and Time:
Wednesday, June 25, 2025, starting at 18:00 Mountain Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Caitlin McCarthy
Brief Description:

In general aviation flying the pilot in command makes all the decisions. From pre-flight planning and the decision to initiate the flight, through fueling and loading the aircraft, to managing in-flight equipment malfunctions, and possibly continuing to a destination with deteriorating weather. Most pilots are confident individuals who consider themselves to be good decision-makers, but risk management is a skill that can be learned and improved.  Too much of what we learn about flying comes from experience, including those "never again" moments.  Join CFII Caitlin McCarthy for a discussion of the psychological barriers to safer flying and learn what the current best practices are for risk management and decision-making in flight.  Pilots will have the opportunity to share their own experiences and learn from each other as we analyze complex decision-making scenarios.
