Brief Description:
The event is the first in a series of webinars on aviation safety topics sponsored by the Maryland Aviation Council. Dr. Sebastian "Vince" Massimini's will present on the Very High Frequency Omni-Directional Range (VOR) Minimum Operational Network (MON) and NextGen Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) Programs. Dr. Massimini will describe how the VOR MON will provide a backup navigation service during GPS disruptions. Users can navigate through a GPS disruption area or land at a MON airport without GPS, DME, ADF, or Surveillance. He will also discuss how the NextGen DME Program provides an RNAV backup to mitigate GPS disruption.
