Brief Description:

The Discipline of The Checklist - One small item missed on the checklist has the potential for a catastrophic event to occur.  The presentations at this event will be interactive with experienced CFIs and a U.S. Air Force Lieutenant discussing accidents where pilots have neglected to use a checklist. Also included will be how checklists are created, why they are helpful and how the natural impetus of human behavior to skip items comes into play when reviewing checklists.

FAASTeam Rep's and CFI's Ean Sugarman & Barbara Hedge present: Learning from others, The importance and discipline of the Checklist.  Dale Snodgrass, a famed and revered Naval Aviator who's career ended tragically in an accident that stemmed from not using a checklist. An instructor with two passengers on board took off from Albert Whitted and crashed into the bay. We look at these accidents and discuss the simple actions (or lack of) that led to the outcome.

Lt Andrew Setrin from McDill Air Force Base in Tampa will discuss how the U.S. Air Force uses checklists and their critical importance along with sharing stories where they saved lives.

Lt Col Don Windle, FAASTeam Lead Rep for KSPG, will give a short presentation on the benefits of participation in the WINGS program
