Background:
Studies have shown that pilots who participate in regular proficiency training are less likely to experience loss of control situations and so are less likely to be involved in accidents. The WINGS Pilot Proficiency Program is one way for general aviation pilots to ensure they are competent, confident and safe in their flight operations...and the program is provided by the FAA, so there is no need to "reinvent the wheel".
Pilots who participate in both knowledge and flight activities under WINGS are more proficient, safer and often receive discounts on aviation insurance.
Why wouldn't you do this?
Learning Points:
- WINGS is FAA’s Pilot Proficiency Program for general aviation.
- WINGS consists of knowledge activities (like this webinar) and flight activities.
- WINGS participation is most beneficial if training is spaced throughout the year—fly three times with a CFI.
- The WINGS Topic of the Quarter is an easy way to pursue regular proficiency training.
- Completion of any phase of WINGS satisfies 14 CFR 61.56 requirements for a Flight Review.
- Flying Clubs may earn lower insurance premiums if members participate in WINGS for Clubs.
- Presented by Lead FAASTeam Representative and WINGSPro, Steve Bateman.
- Steve is always available to help flight instructors, pilots and flying clubs navigate and use WINGS.
Join the Westminster Aerobats Flying Club safety meeting and get WINGS credit.
The Westminster Aerobats Flying Club (WAFC) uses WINGS for Clubs as the basis for its safety culture.
