FREE Flight Simulator Training for VFR Pilots
This notice expired on
Sunday, January 6, 2008

Back in the dark ages of aviation, a man named Edwin Link thought he had a better idea. He built a box with wings and tail, installed flight instruments and controls, mounted the gizmo on some pneumo/
mechanical actuators, and plugged it in. From that time, instrument training has never been the same!

This is an opportunity to receive FREE Flight Simulator (Flight Training Device FTD) training where you will learn how to escape inadvertent Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC) encounters.

Eligible pilots can receive FREE Flight Simulator(FTD). If you: 1-You are a Sport, Recreational or Private Pilot, 3-Fly (own or rent) a single engine fixed-wing aircraft that has a basic panel (six-pack) including a Turn Coordinator, 4- Have not started Instrument Rating training.

If you meet the eligibility requirements stipulated above, email Barry Kahn at bark40@yahoo.com to see if you qualify. 1 hour training blocks are allotted. Additional dates and times are available.

Sponsored by Barry Kahn, Flight Sim (FTD) Training, NCDOT Division of Aviation and the FAA Safety Team (FAASTeam). This is a North Carolina state wide Flight Simulator (Personal Computer-Based Aviation Training Device PCATD) Study designed to prevent VFR into low visibility IMC accidents through the use of PCATD's. 8 selected VFR pilots will receive 1 hour of "Sim" time and Aeronautical Decision Making (ADM) Training. In exchange for FREE Sim time participants agree to the Sim and ADM training provided plus accident tracking for study results. Don't miss this unique training opportunity to learn more about inadvertent flight into IMC and decision making!

The goal of this program is to demonstrate that "sim" and ADM training will show lower accidents rates among participants compared with national statistical data. Email Barry Kahn at bark40@yahoo.com to see if you qualify.

The FAASTeam contact for this program is Robert Sutherlin, FAA Safety Team Program Manager (FPM) in North Carolina. He can be reached at 336-662-1009, or robert.c.sutherlin@faa.gov.
