LETTER TO AIRMEN NO. 10-01
SUBJECT: RNAV SID’s and PDR’s for Eastbound IFR Aircraft from San Antonio Area
CANCELLATION: November 4, 2010
In conjunction with Houston Air Route Traffic Control Center (ARTCC), San Antonio Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) has established requirements for aircraft leaving the San Antonio area to the east, to be RNAV capable. To facilitate this requirement a new RNAV SID, the HUBEE1 has been published and is presently in use by suitably equipped aircraft departing San Antonio International (SAT) and Stinson Municipal (SSF) airports. RNAV capable aircraft that depart other airports will be routed eastbound on approved Preferential Departure Routes (PDR’s); example J138.SEEDS..WEMAR..HUB.
Aircraft that are not RNAV capable will be routed south bound over Three Rivers (THX) and Corpus Christi (CRP).
Effective immediately, to depart on an eastbound route from San Antonio area, the aircraft must be capable of RNAV point-to-point flight in the enroute environment and file a correct ICAO flight plan. In other words, the aircraft must file one of the following equipment suffixes, and include their RNAV capability in the remarks section example; RND 1 RNE 2 RNA 1.
