Have You Crossed the Line?
This notice expired on

“If You Cross the Line, You’ve Crossed the Line”

“Crossing the line” or, more accurately, the holding position marking, without authorization often compromises safety.  A takeoff or landing might have to be aborted.  Extreme evasive action might be required.  Sometimes the results are much worse -- a collision occurs causing injuries, or deaths.

Pilots continue to cause two-thirds of all runway incursions.  The reasons are numerous:  Inattention.  Distractions.  Fatigue.  Poor communications.  Unfamiliarity.

When you “cross the line” without having been cleared onto a runway for  takeoff, or in preparation to take off, or to cross the runway, you have “crossed the line” both literally and figuratively.  The consequences of doing so can be severe.
