IFR:Vertical Guidance VFR: A Cold and Rainy Surprise
Date and Time:
Wednesday, January 11, 2023, starting at 19:00 Central Standard Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Larry Martin
Brief Description:

Vertical Guidance Give and Take: Common wisdom says that flying a constant-descent approach on a glide path results in a safer, more stable approach than the old “dive-and-drive.” But what do you do when that technique is almost certain to result in a missed approach—while the old-school method will likely reveal a runway you can land on?

A Cold and Rainy Surprise:  Airframe icing in the winter months strikes fear into the hearts of IFR pilots, but you thought VFR meant this was a non-issue. Now circumstance has proved that wrong. What’s your choice for the best destination airport and landing technique given you’ll be a bit of a test pilot before this flight is over?

Members discuss short videos and how they would respond to the given scenario(s).  This is an open forum for free ideas and we all learn from shared experience!   All are welcome to join in.  With the combined IFR & VFR scenarios' this seminar should be 2 hours long and enhance everyone's education.

Prior to attending a safety seminar please review and abide by current CDC, State and Local health guidelines.
