Loss of Control Inflight (LOC-I) is THE Leading Cause of Aircraft Accidents.
LOC can be either Inflight or Not Inflight. Why do pilots Lose Control of their aircraft? Is it due to Lack of Training, Lack of Currency, Onboard Instrument Failure, Weather (VFR into IMC), Stall/Spin on Base to Final turn, Runway excursion, "Moose Stall"? All of these are possibilities. However, there are many other causes.
During this seminar, we will review and discuss some LOC accidents as well as other possible causes of LOC and how these accidents may be prevented. We will also discuss what we, both Individually and as a member of the Flying Community, can do to lessen the probability of LOC.
Since LOC is the leading cause of aircraft accidents, it is an important topic that all of us must understand and work together to prevent. This topic, and the topic of our seminar that was held in November, CFIT- Controlled Flight Into Terrain, are the two deadliest causes of aircraft accidents. If we can reduce the number of accidents from LOC and CFIT, we will greatly reduce the number of Fatalities and enhance Aviation Safety for all of us and our passengers.
ALL PILOTS, Regardless of rating or experience, including CFIs and Rusty Pilots, Aircraft Owners and Partners and Flying Club members are encouraged to attend this informative WINGS Safety seminar. Non-pilots that are interested in aviation and aviation safety are also welcome to attend. The FAASTeam Seminars at KPCM are held as organized "Hangar Flying" with participation by everyone. The primary focus of these Seminars is building a safety consciousness among pilots.
