Brief Description:

Have you ever heard of an “uncontrolled” airport?  What about a “shared-control” airport or an airport with a closed part-time tower?  These are just a couple of colloquialisms for what is correctly termed the Non-Towered Airport.

Our Guest Speaker for this two-hour seminar is experienced CFI-I Mike Barrett.  Mr. Barrett has given hundreds of hours of instruction in North and Central Florida and holds a Ground Instructor Certificate (Advanced/Instrument).

During this seminar we will discuss the new FAA Advisory Circular, AC 90-66B (Non-Towered Airport Flight Operations), including a highlight of the recent changes.

The forum will include an interactive discussion with local pilots on topics such as:

  • Traffic Flow and Pattern Entries
  • Communication and Phraseology
  • Collision Avoidance and Right of Way
  • Instrument Arrivals
  • Short/Low/Overhead Approach Awareness
  • Departing The Pattern
  • Operational Etiquette and Resolving Disagreements
