Brief Description:
The speaker will give a brief overview of aviation in Alaska and how it differs from the lower 48. He will then give an overview of off-airport flying in Alaska on wheels, floats and skis and focus on the techniques (Aeronautical Decision Making) and safety measures to consider for each type of undercarriage.
Miguel Ridolfi has been flying ASEL for 4 years and ASES for 3 years. He owns and flies a Grumman Traveler every week. He commutes by plane from Crescent city to Salinas where he works as a Paramedic and Greenhouse Electrician. He travels to Alaska twice a year to train as a bush pilot with Don Lee, in Talkeetna and Jim Craig in Seward. He has a seaplane rating, skiplane checkout and focuses on off-airport work. He plans to move to Alaska this summer to work as a full time Bush pilot and Paramedic. One day he hopes to fly a fixed wing air ambulance.
