This was an All-Day event (10:00 through 17:00) Starting with a review of the Commercial Pilot qualifications and then building on the knowledge that must be acquired, including fundamentals of Instructing, spin awareness and training, and the CFI ratings that may be added. Using 14 CFR Parts 61 and 91, and AC 61-65F as the starting point, the discussion continued through the privileges, limitations, responsibilities and the record keeping requirements that are incumbent on Flight Instructors. Also discussed were teaching techniques, communications, decoding your student's issues, distractions, precise and proficient use of language, pre-solo testing, check-ride preparation, determining the minimum hours require at each stage of th process and the new instructor's need to be proficient as well as qualified in the stunt's aircraft.
