Title:
ASCEND 2026 - Leadership and Development
Topic:
Leadership and Development: Growing CFIs Into Leaders
Date and Time:
Tuesday, September 8, 2026, starting at 15:00 Central Daylight Time Download Calendar File
Speaker(s):
Aaron Hollewell
Brief Description:

Safety culture is built and sustained by instructors, and their judgment and teaching habits are shaped by the leadership and mentorship they receive. This roundtable covers developing CFIs into leaders: identifying traits that signal leadership and mentorship potential in instructional staff, coaching that reinforces standardized ADM and risk-management instruction across a CFI team, and building a succession path so safety practices persist through instructor turnover. Attendees will leave able to spot leadership and mentorship potential in their instructors, apply coaching that standardizes ADM and risk-management instruction, structure a mentorship or succession path, and evaluate how instructor leadership reduces inconsistency in the safety judgment passed on to students.
